How to Connect your Wix Website to Google Analytics.

People sometimes contact my SEO for Wix website asking how do they connect their website to Google Analytics. Connecting small business Wix websites to Google Analytics isn't something I recommend doing; but if you have a larger website and will actually make use of the insights Google Analytics can provide, this is a step by step guide on how to connect your Wix website to Google Analytics:


Step 1:
Go to your Google Analytics homepage and click Admin in the bottom left corner.

Step 2:

In the Admin page, click on the blue + Create Property button.

Step 3:

In the New Property page that appears, insert your details. Because your website was created on Wix, select https from the Website URL drop-down menu (see red circle in pic below).

Then click Get Tracking ID.

Step 4: A large amount of code appears in the next page, but you don’t need all that! The only thing you need is the Tracking Number written at the very top, it’ll look something like: UA-77796223-1, circled in green in the pic below. Copy this number now.

Step 5:

Leave Google Analytics and go to your Wix Dashboard.

On the left side menu click on Marketing Tools, and then on Marketing Integrations.

Step 6:

In the Google Analytics section that appears, click Go For It.

Step 7:

In the top right corner of the page, click on Add Google Analytics.

Step 8:

On the pop-up page that appears (see image below), paste in the Tracking Number you received earlier in Google Analytics (for example UA-77796223-1) to the space provided.

Be sure to tick the box underneath (circled in red, below). Otherwise, you’ll also be recording your own visits to your site. You really don't want to do that, it'll just confuse everything later on as your business grows.

When finished, press save and you’re done.

Congratulations, you've linked your Wix website to Google Analytics.
